Welcome to Valley Recycling!! We are a locally owned company in Valley City dedicated to reducing waste that is going to landfills....reduce, reuse, recycle!!
Valley Recycling has a new Phone #
840-0476
Please feel free to call anytime with questions or concerns
TO THE PERSON OR PERSONS who took the big red beacon: PLEASE RETURN!!
If item is returned in good shape, no questions will be asked....if the Police have to find you, charges will be filed.
VCSU Recycling Dumpsters have been moved to the parking lot of the Bubble (North Side)
We are sorry for any inconvenience...they will remain there for the duration of road construction going on down in the VCSU area
We are very happy to report that we have been seeing several new faces down here at the Recycling Center....Perhaps word is getting around and people are getting motivated to do the right thing.
I do have one problem though that I would like to get everyone on the same page here. We ONLY accept Plastics #1 & #2 WITH A TWIST-OFF CAP. In other words, if it has a snap on lid or does not have a neck or twist off cap, we CANNOT accept it.
COMING SOON!!! We will be accepting ALL plastics clearly marked with recycling symbol #1-#7 about mid-May to the early part of June. We will try to keep you all posted on our progress
Recycling Guides are always available at our facility, please grab one & take the time to look over or give one to a friend or neighbor.
We are now also accepting Clothing/Shoes/Belts/Purses/Towels/Sheets.
Look for the USAGAIN bin set up outside of our building. I am ONLY affiliated with the bin at my facility, not any of the others set up in town.
PLEASE PEOPLE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT COMPUTERS, T.V.'s, Flourescent Bulbs, Alkaline Batteries. There are disposal fees involved with these items...Jamestown Recycling Center charges disposal fees & sends these items to a company in Minnesota.
If we catch you dumping these items at our facility, you will be charged with illegal dumping.
What Happens To Recycled Items??
Metal: Reinforcement beams for cars, more cans...it takes old steel to make new steel so keep that in mind!!
Office Paper: Goes to a Tissue Mill to make toilet tissue & napkins.
Newspaper: Used to make egg cartons
Aluminum Beverage Cans: Aluminum is THE MOST RECYCLABLE ITEM...can be recycled 11 times to make more Aluminum Beverage cans. Did you know that $51 BILLION in Aluminum cans are thrown away every year!?!?
Corrugated Cardboard: Makes more Boxes, Boxboard
Plastics #1: Goes to a company by the name of Mohawk Industry to make carpeting.
Plastics #2: Containers, Benches, Fencing & Decking are all made from this Plastic.
Magazines: Magazines and a blend of old Newsprint creates New Newsprint.
Glass: Depending on the company Glass is taken to, it is used for making new glass bottles or used in Glassblasting & Landscaping.
Plastic Grocery Bags/Shrink Wrap: For use in Lumber
Poly Bags/Flax Totes: Is in fact shipped overseas...not sure at this time what happens to it.
Just some fun facts for you....Thanks Brett L. for bringing that to my attention!!!
Also...we have been having some problems with people dumping their actual garbage in our business dumpster (Food, clothing, blankets, yard clippings, etc) Please keep in mind that we have 2 businesses sharing one dumpster. Valley Radiator has done many things to cut back on Garbage, but here at Valley Recycling we do get quite a few non-recyclable items in our bins that do end up taking up quite a bit of room in our dumpster each week. I have had to call people in the past for using our dumpster & we will be installing cameras soon.....so please take your items back home with you if they do not fit into a Category with any of our Recyclable Bins. My patience has been tried too many times with this issue, so from now on charges will be filed against people caught dumping garbage in our Dumpster or on our property.
Thank You!!
Marcia Faul
